About

I am Yolanda Garner Hutcherson, creator of  Garnering Greatness, I am a blogger newbie.

A little more about me……

I come from an entrepreneur family. My family owned a pest control company all my life, so this kind of set me up to have a good work ethic. I also got licensed and exterminated roaches, bed bugs, mice, etc. This was my training ground, if you will, for all future jobs. After working 9-5 jobs I kind of miss that entrepreneur spirit. I knew one day I would do something on my own again. I lived on Long Island most of my life and left for a few years to get my education at an HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) named North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC. I later got my Masters in Social Work at Adelphi University. At my full-time job, I investigate sex abuse cases for children.  I absolutely love what I do with children and their families. At times it can be emotionally taxing, but I have to create that me time to not burn out. That’s one of the reasons why I wanted to start this personal and lifestyle blog. I love to encourage people and find out what makes them great.

I am married and parent a young boy and a 20 something-year-old daughter. All joys and challenges at times.   My husband is supportive and I am blessed to have him in my life. My favorite thing I say to him is “you so sweet to me”.

I chose my blog name by thinking about my maiden name Garner. Garnering is gathering, collecting, reaping, and deposit into. I wanted to let people know especially women that they are great and how do you find that greatness in you.

So with that being said how do you garner your greatness? Follow me on this journey.
